The wepontak is a gathering of Amear for the purpose of choosing a course of action or leader for a specific task. This is an informal affair, dominated by custom and tradition. It is presided over by the most august Nieran in the area, and may be attended by any who have proven themselves. This primarily excludes young braves or children of a tribe, or winterborn who are training to become Nierans but who have not yet been accepted as such.
Amear are free willed, and any who are considered elders of the tribe may speak without being asked to do so. It is poor form to interrupt another, and usually those of great age are allowed to speak first. All who are Nieran or have been Weagra may speak at the Wepontak freely, so these tend to be rather chaotic affairs, with loud disagreement and discussion. This social rule is enforced ruthlessly, and any who speak without the right are dealt with harshly.
Wepontak are held after harvest, on midwinter, and high summer. The gathering may also be called by any elder Nieran or Jarl in a region to solve a specific problem
